Aberdeen-based showband Glitz has been officially named Best Live Entertainment Provider 2025–2026 at the Prestige Awards — a major recognition of the group’s excellence, innovation, and commitment to live performance across Scotland and the UK.
Founded and led by drummer and bandleader Mairi Newberry, Glitz has spent the past 14 years building a reputation as one of Scotland’s most dynamic, high-energy live acts, combining top class musicianship with state-of-the-art production, visuals, and powerful custom medleys that rival any London showband.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this award,” said Newberry. “Glitz has always been about bringing that wow-factor show experience to Scotland without having to fly in expensive southern-based bands. Our mission has been to prove that Aberdeen can deliver the same elite-level performance, right here, locally.”
Over the years, Glitz has evolved from a pioneering all-female band inspired by Beyoncé’s Sugar Mamas into a diverse, mixed-line-up showband performing for corporate events, awards nights, and luxury weddings across the UK. The group’s growing corporate portfolio includes high-profile venues such as Aberdeen Dyce Hotel, Ardoe House Hotel, RAF Lossiemouth, Gleneagles, Old Course St Andrews and P&J Live, where Glitz regularly deliver full-production stage shows for thousands of guests.
In the past year, the band has invested heavily in cutting-edge programming, advanced tech rigs, and LED visual design, ensuring each performance meets the same technical and creative standards as their London counterparts — but with a significantly lower carbon footprint and a strong local economic benefit.
