Simon Newberry is co-owner of Glitz Showband and has worked alongside Mairi for over 17 years, performing together in bands before the pair went on to form Glitz 14 years ago.
As the band’s Senior Sound Technician, Simon plays a huge role behind the scenes in making every Glitz show sound as big and polished as it looks. From mixing the band to overseeing the technical setup and managing the dancefloor lighting, Simon helps create the full high-energy party atmosphere that Glitz is known for.
Simon is also an experienced ceilidh caller and is often the one encouraging guests onto the dancefloor, guiding everyone through the dances and making sure the ceilidh sets are lively, inclusive and great fun for all.
When he’s not behind the desk keeping everything running smoothly, Simon is very much part of the engine that keeps the whole Glitz show moving.

Lewis Davies is the senior guitarist of Glitz Showband and a key driving force behind the band’s powerful live sound. Now in his fourth year with Glitz, Lewis combines commanding stage presence with musical precision, delivering everything from soaring rock solos to tight, groove-driven rhythm work. He is also famously known for his running around the room with blazing show stopping guitar performances during our show!
Alongside his role with Glitz, Lewis performs with artists including Ben Walker and Callum Beattie, bringing his versatility and professional experience to stages across the UK.
In addition to his live performance work, Lewis oversees Glitz’s Ableton programming and playback elements for selected shows. Working closely within the band’s wider production framework, he ensures musical transitions, additional layers and show cues are delivered seamlessly and professionally.
A true modern musician, Lewis blends technical expertise with instinctive musicianship, forming a vital part of the precision and polish behind the Glitz live experience.


Also known for:
Megan is a professional performer based in Aberdeen. After graduating from a London drama school in 2017, she has performed across the UK, abroad and onboard ferry cruises. From show teams, bands, plays and pantomimes, Megan has done a wide range of professional work on stage.
Megan gigs in an around Aberdeen at local residential homes, pubs and bars, and has also been a part of Aberdeen Arts Centre’s professional pantomime with Talegate Theatre Productions for the past five Christmases, playing a range of different roles from baddie to fairy to principal girl. Megan also does singing waiter gigs, tribute shows, murder mysteries and musical afternoon teas with Right Here Productions based in Inverurie.
Megan joined Glitz in 2023 and really enjoys performing with very talented musicians and singers and is excited to see what’s next for Glitz.

Ailsa Black brings fire, finesse and serious vocal power to the Glitz stage. With a voice that can soar through dancefloor anthems and melt hearts on the ballads, she knows exactly how to lift a room and keep it there.
Trained in popular music at Perth College and an accomplished solo artist in her own right, Ailsa blends technical skill with natural charisma. Whether it’s a packed wedding dancefloor or a high-end corporate crowd, she delivers every song with confidence, style and that unmistakable Glitz energy.
Dynamic, polished and completely captivating Ailsa is a huge part of what makes a Glitz show unforgettable. Her energy is absolutely unstoppable and infectious.

Claire Wallis is one of Glitz’s powerhouse lead vocalists, bringing exceptional stage presence, versatility and warmth to every performance. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Claire trained in musical theatre and has performed on some of the UK’s most prestigious stages.
Her career highlights include appearances alongside John Barrowman and Susan Boyle, as well as performances at iconic venues including the Royal Albert Hall. With a voice that moves effortlessly from soulful ballads to high-energy party anthems, Claire delivers every song with style, precision and genuine connection.
As part of Glitz, Claire helps create the electric atmosphere the band is known for — polished, professional and unforgettable. Claire has been in the band since 2024

Cameron Jay is an accomplished international trumpet player whose dynamic sound and commanding stage presence bring serious firepower to the Glitz brass section.
With recording credits including the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Mama Terra, Federation of the Disco Pimp and the world-renowned Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Cameron’s versatility spans jazz, funk, pop, rock and high-energy show performance.
He has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe, specialising in theatre productions, corporate events and prestigious private engagements, consistently delivering precision, power and style.
Cameron joined Glitz Showband in 2024 and is co-responsible, alongside Leon Thorne, for arranging the band’s signature horn sections, helping to shape the powerful, bespoke brass sound that defines the Glitz live experience.
Alongside his live performance work, Cameron is also a dedicated brass educator and YouTube content creator, sharing his expertise and inspiring the next generation of players.

Leon Thorne is a Scottish musician, producer, composer, arranger, songwriter and educator with a BA (Hons) in Applied Music. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, he is an in-demand session musician known for his feel and adaptability.
Leon has toured extensively across the UK, Europe, Japan, and the USA, appearing on major stages including T in the Park (Main Stage), Glastonbury Festival, Proms in the Park (Hyde Park, London), Fuji Rock Festival (Japan), Rewind Festival (UK wide), W Festival (Ostend), Tønder Festival (Denmark), and Summerfest in Milwaukee.
Performance credits include Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Kim Mazelle, Fiction Factory (Feels like Heaven) Alan Gorrie of The AWB, Federation of the Disco Pimp, Skerryvore, The Final Cut Brass Band and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
Leon has also toured internationally with large-scale tribute productions including The Magic of Motown, How Sweet It Is, A Beautiful Noise (Neil Diamond Tribute), Billy J MacGregor and The Elvis Collection, and the UB40 tribute show, and has over a decade experience as band leader and musical director of Stax of Motown.
Whether on stage, in the studio, or leading a band, Leon brings experience, groove, and soul to every project. Leon joined Glitz in 2024 and we love him lots

Natalie is no stranger to the stage. As the founder and band leader of Dundee’s powerhouse rock band Danger Zone, she has built a reputation for high energy performances, fearless leadership and outstanding vocals. With over 10 years of professional experience, she has performed across Scotland at countless weddings, major social events and standout festivals including Thunder in the Glens, Monfest and the iconic Harley-Davidson Festival as well as many more
A true rock soul at heart, with a well known love of Iron Maiden, Natalie has also performed with the acclaimed Level 42 tribute band Mr Pink, showcasing her versatility and depth as a vocalist.
At Glitz, Natalie brings a rich, warm tone that adds strength and colour to our sound, alongside that unmistakable rock energy, whether it be delivering powerhouse anthems, or adding texture and depth to harmonies. She also turns her hand to percussion preserving our girl power demographic! She’s vibrant, brilliantly fun, and an absolute force on stage!

Chris Boitz brings depth, groove and decades of experience to the Glitz rhythm section. Having started playing bass at just 11 years old, Chris has now spent over 35 years honing his craft and developing the effortless, locked-in feel that defines his sound.
A graduate of Perth Music College, where he gained his HNC in Music Performance in 1996, Chris has built a long and respected career on the live circuit. He has been a core member of the cover band Huge Mouse since 2002 and is co-founder of Danger Zone, delivering high-energy performances across Scotland for many years.
Chris is also the founder of The Boyz – Thin Lizzy Experience and Mr Pink – a Level 42 tribute, showcasing both his versatility and his deep appreciation for groove-driven rock and funk.
Alongside his live performance work, Chris composes his own original material, bringing musicality, creativity and serious rhythmic authority to every performance.
His arrival has strengthened the Glitz rhythm section to a new level of cohesion, groove and power, forming the heartbeat behind the band’s signature high-impact sound. We are in awe of his groove.

Jim is a professional guitarist based in Glasgow.
Since 2004, he has served as an Instrumental Instructor Council, for West teaching secondary students and assisting them in obtaining their SQA qualification in Music. With numerous years of experience, Jim has performed live in diverse venues, ranging from theatres and stages to private functions and corporate events. playing live is a true passion of his. Outwith live performance, Jim has also worked with national media outlets such as Global Radio, Fore Digital, and International publishers such as Smash Coast Music. Here, he has provided music in a variety of styles for radio and media advertising.
Jim is a mean incredible shredder as well as an all round lovely guy. We love having him in our team! Jim has played for Glitz since 2003

Jondi Mac brings decades of international experience to the Glitz stage as one of the band’s keyboardists and vocalists. A professional session and touring musician since 1990, his career has taken him across the world performing, recording and appearing on numerous studio and television projects throughout Asia and the Pacific region.
During the 1990s and early 2000s he held a variety of high profile live residencies across the Asia Pacific circuit, building a reputation as a versatile and highly respected player. Over the years he has performed and recorded with an impressive range of artists including Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, Terry Reid, Darius Rucker, Massive Attack and members of Sting’s touring band.
His performance highlights include appearances at major international venues such as Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, performing for the King of Thailand in Bangkok, and playing at the Bollywood Awards in Mumbai. Earlier in his career he was also part of one of the bands that opened for Bon Jovi on the Asian leg of the Keep The Faith tour in 1993.
Away from the arena stage, Jondimac has also worked as a Mediterranean cruise ship musical director and continues to bring his wealth of musical experience and professionalism to every performance.
Now firmly based in Scotland, he remains highly active in the live music scene and is a key part of the powerful Glitz sound, adding world class keyboards, musicality and vocal depth to the band’s high energy show.
